Dr. Apoorv Kalra graduated from the LTM Medical College, University of Mumbai, India in 2000. He did his Internal Medicine Residency at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan followed by Infectious Disease Fellowship at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Kalra joined the faculty at Michigan State University in 2008. In 2009, Dr. Kalra was awarded a Young Investigator ASPIRE grant from Pfizer to evaluate components of Staphylococcus aureus-cell interactions and genotypic changes needed for Staphylococcal intracellular growth. He is the Director of the Infectious Disease Outpatient Clinics. His research interests include pathophysiology of Staphylococcus aureus and use of culture independent techniques to define human microbiome.
