Muscle dystrophy is a rare, inherited disease that typically involves weakness. Some dystrophies are treated with medications. Most are not treatable with medication but still require routine management. Identifying which diseases might improve or stabilize with medication is difficult and a combination of teamwork and experience is important.
Muscle dystrophy care at Michigan State University is jointly managed by co-directors Margaret Frey, DO (Neurology) and Rebecca Wyatt, DO (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation).
Occupational therapy, wheel chair support, orthotics and respiratory therapy are available same day to muscle dystrophy patients.
